From PA to Director: The Art and Craft of a Film/TV Director presented by Redelia Shaw

Redelia Shaw is a producer and Directors’ Guild of America 2nd Assistant Director where she has worked on numerous commercial television and film projects, including: Scandal, House of Lies, The Muppets, The Office, Heroes, Private Practice and Body of Proof. From 2002 to 2005 Shaw was the development and production executive for Point 7 Entertainment, credits include the production of 28 episodes for the TV One Reality Special, Makeover Manor, 6 episodes for the Turner South Comedy Series, That Comedy Show and 10 episodes for the Showtime Comedy Series, Jamie Foxx presents LAFFAPALOOZA! 

In 2005 she relocated to Los Angeles to work as the Production and Talent Coordinator for various networks
including, BET, TV One, Comedy Central and the Inaugural Neighborhood Ball for President Obama. 

In 2007, Shaw formed Life Media Projects, Inc. a 501(c)3 nonprofit that focuses on engaging youth in media literacy and their production of creative media. LMP is the fiscal sponsor for COCAINE PRISON. Her credits as an
independent filmmaker include JOURNEY TO AFRICA; a feature documentary for which she was awarded an Artist-in-Residence Fellowship to the Wexner Center and was selected to the Film Independent Documentary Lab. 

Shaw has recently joined United Notions Film as a producer for COCAINE PRISON and THE BOLIVIAN CASE. She is also a tenured professor of Media Studies at Santa Monica College. Shaw holds a BA in Mass Media Arts from Clark Atlanta University and a Masters Degree in Cinema from Georgia State University. She is an alumnus of the Film Independent, the West Coast Regional Director of The National Council of Women in Entertainment and has memberships in the Black Association of Documentary Filmmakers (BADWest), Urban Mediamakers and Women in Film.
