ABOUT ABOUT

One World Under A Groove directed by Giulia Giorgi (Rome, Italy)

In 2011, along with the youth exchanges program 'Hip Hop for Euromed', with the support of the European Union, was managed to realize a break dance exchange based on the Euro-Mediterranean area, involving teams of Bboys and Bgirls and street dancers coming from 5 nations: Morocco, Tunisia , Poland, France and Italy.

Through the whole process, the participants had the chance to re-discover their own cultural roots, to experience them from a different perspective (the Hip Hop), to share them with people from other countries and, in the last phase, to build a common choreography project that represented every individual contribution, with a show during the break dance contest 'Funky Afternoon 2'. The experience lasted 10 days, during which the dancers have lived together, practiced, team worked for the realization of a final show and shared their experiences.

During the Exchange the dancers have been followed, filmed and interviewed by the team Badu Bros, the Hip Hop chapter of the Baburka Production that has realized the documentary “1 World Under One Groove” which analyzes the perception and the expressions of Hip Hop as supranational culture in different world regions (in the specific in the Euro-Mediterranean area). Focusing the attention on how it interacts on the cultures of the different nations that has touched, without losing its fundamental principles and interacting with them in their social texture, helping the young to emerge from the everyday life that, more or less, suffocates their Creativity.
