ABOUT ABOUT

The Alton Adjustment is a journey that begins with the upbringing of Butler by his mother and father whom were both business owners. Butler describes things he enjoyed doing as a child: basketball, the debate team, and aiding self-employed family members to earn money. His desire to drape himself in name brand clothing sparked the engagement of petty thievery such as popping school lockers to steal valuables, which gradually evolved to robberies.

As leader of a criminal enterprise, Butler commanded his companions to rob stores. Things heat up when he orders his affiliates to intrude a store for the second time that was under police surveillance. Moments after barging into the facility with weapons drawn, police swarmed in and arrested Butler while his associates fled the scene.

Butler served the first year of his term in solitary confinement for striking two inmates in the head with a lock concealed inside of a sock. Butler recollects on the incident that brought about the State of Georgia transitioning the all male facility to an all female institution. He graphically depicts a murder of an inmate being strangled to death and rapped by three other male inmates.

At the midpoint of his bid, an instructor introduced him to the debate team. The remainder of his term was dedicated to education and devising programs that would benefit others in society.

After his release, he has reframed from returning to prison and has become a business owner, youth speaker, and the organizer of Butler Feed the Hungry.
