Building Your Brand through Social Media - Saturday, Oct. 13th More Info

At the Think 2011 Conference Joan Lewis (P&G’s Global Consumer and Market Knowledge Officer) talked about the transformative impact of social media on traditional marketing research. Lewis ”stressed the enormous game-changing opportunities inherent with social media, and urged the industry to place learning ahead of a “dogmatic belief that representation is everything.”

Stacey Dahl writes, “Brand marketing has always been driven by one thing – sales. This is what brands ultimately want, for consumers to purchase the products or services they are offering. This is the main reason why most brands spend a lot of money on advertising and marketing campaigns.

But social media is revolutionizing how consumers interact with the brands they like. Instead of the typical passive involvement they get through traditional media, social media has given them an excellent platform for engaging with their brands in two-way conversations that are a lot more meaningful to them.”

So for entrepreneurs and small businesses, what does this mean for brand marketing?

Building Your Brand through Social Media will look at:

- What are the most effective social media platforms?
- How to jump right in to social media.
- Available social media resources

Monetizing Independent Books, Films and Music - Sat., Oct. 13th More Info

Making a living in the film and music industry has changed with digital technology and social media. For music it involves a lot more than selling music. In fact some would say that giving away recorded music is the best way to grow a fan base and put the artist in the position to monetize touring, merch, endorsements and publishing rights. For film it involves having a huge new distribution channel that you can control!

Developing a Strong Web Presence and Content Strategy - Saturday More Info

Reaching out to new customers should be the goal of every business. Having a website will open up your business to customers who rely on the internet as their major source of information. If you do not have a web presence, this new generation of online customers will be snatched up by your competitors. A web page makes it easier for people on social media sites to find and research your company. A new study Gartner research has discovered that, “a majority of today’s consumers rely to some extent on social networks to help guide them in purchase decisions.” If you don’t have a web presence, it is likely that most of these customers will not consider your business an option.

When you don’t have a web presence, the younger generation of budding consumers may find you to be too orthodox and outdated, not in touch with their needs. By adding an online presence you immediately raise your credibility and give your business a fresh new identity. You bring yourself into the 21st century and identify yourself as a forward thinking company.

By utilizing this new platform you can market directly to potential customers with a one on one pitch. When a customer is browsing the internet there is no intermediary to muddle your sales pitch. You control the entire process. This means you can tailor your content and raise your conversion rate and turn active web viewers into long-term customers.

Presented by Kathryn Smith and Cheryle Reynolds

This session will look at:

- Creating a website that is user-friendly, and reflective of your brand.
- How to build an awesome online presence.
- Developing a strong and effective content strategy.
- Why do you need a mobile web site too?
- Integrating social media into your web presence.
- Getting involved in real-time conversations and trends (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
- Bringing your traditional and digital marketing presence together.
